“The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours of beating on your craft.”

-Will Smith

Artist Statement

It is through painting that I am fully aware of all of my senses. The gritty, raw, and mysterious depths that fill my very being are brought to life through my work. It’s the haunting memories of the past and the countless fears filling my head that cause me to paint. The medium and colors that I choose are never left void of symbolism. Most of my work revolves around colors I find soothing, allowing my mind a safe place to rest. My hope is that each of my paintings will find a place to rest, be still, and quiet the storm of their own existence.

I’m greatly inspired by my urban life, the open countryside, coastal areas, bodies of water, and natural landscapes. Places I've traveled to if only through my dreams come to life through my work.

From an early age I was encouraged to channel my energy through creative outlets by my family of architects, painters, and skilled craftsmen. I knew at some point my artwork would manifest into something tangible. It was through trial and error of sculpture, painting, and multiple art classes that I found a true passion for acrylic and oil paints on canvas, wood, and metal.

A Midwest native with a West Coast heart, I’m continually striving to create pieces full of landscape, texture, and color that evoke a sense of presence and awareness. The motivation for painting in large is to provide a place to rest, reflect, excite, and even calm the inner voices and outward noises for my clients and anyone taking the time to view and appreciate the pieces.

Over the past 10 years my work has been showcased in group and solo exhibits, gallery spaces, and local businesses throughout the Twin Cities, and I’ve sold commissioned and original artwork pieces locally. Currently I’m working out of my home studio in St. Paul, MN and continuing to pursue the passion that sets my soul on fire and lights up my face like the sun.
